All About Rush
“Rush” is simply the term used to describe the formal recruitment period of fraternities and sororities. It consists of events and activities designed for members and potential members to learn about each other and the organizations. At the end of the Rush period, any organizations which you made a positive impression on may issue you a "bid", which is an invitation to join. Potential members may only accept one bid from one fraternity, so choose carefully. If you accept a bid, you will then be a “Pledge” of that fraternity. Pledge Period is the period of time where you will be charged with learning about the history and structure of the fraternity, and proving yourself to be a valuable future member. Upon successfully completing Pledge Period and all of its requirements, you will be extended full membership and may call yourself an active member of the fraternity, or a “Brother”.
